Photography
For as long as I can remember, I've had an interest in photography. I've owned
a number of cameras, from cheap pocket-sized cartridge-film cameras to 35mm
compacts and SLRs. My main cameras are a Canon EOS 7D digital SLR, and a black Canon EOS 33V film SLR.

I tend to specialise in wildlife and nature photography, though I have been known to photograph other subjects as well (macro and technology are particular favourites of mine). I avoid photographing people wherever possible -- I have absolutely no interest in portrait photography (it seems too "fake" to me!)
Gear list
Manual-focus film SLR

- Olympus Zuiko 85-105mm f3.5-4.5 "universal zoom" lens

dismantling, cleaning and rebuilding)

- Cobra Auto 210 flash
- Cokin 202 multi-image filter and System A adapter kit
Autofocus film SLR

- Canon EOS 7D 18Mpix digital SLR (black) with BG-E7 battery grip and
two battery packs
- Tons of Sandisk Extreme3 and Ultra2 CompactFlash cards
EF lenses and accessories
- Canon EF 24-105mm f4 L
- Canon EF 100-400mm f4-5.6 L
- Sigma 10-20mm EX DC ultra-wide-angle
- Canon EF-S 60mm Macro
- Cokin P-series adapter rings, mount, circular polariser, and ND grads.
Flashguns
- Canon Speedlite 580EX Mk.II
"Multi-system" accessories
- Manfrotto 190XPROB tripod, 3-way head and ball-head with extra quick-release plates
- Manfrotto monopod
- Canon TC-80N3 wired remote control, modified with 2.5mm jack-plug and socket (to allow use with EOS33V)
Digital "compact" cameras
- Canon PowerShot A710iS digital compact -- nice camera, though it suffers
quite badly from digital noise at ISO200 and above. Maybe I've just been
spoiled by the low noise sensors on the 40D and 7D...
- Jenoptik JD-C1.3 1.3Mpix digital pocket camera -- this is quite possibly the
worst digital camera I've ever used. Its only saving grace is that it is a
very cheap camera so good for using in situations where equipment damage is a
distinct possibility. So it gets tied to equally cheap Jessops tripods in
hostile environments :)
- Konica-Minolta DiMAGE Scan Elite 5400 film scanner with 35mm negative and slide
adapters. Rescued from a skip at work on a "no guarantees" basis. Has had
one motherboard replacement but otherwise a great little workhorse. Not bad
for something I pulled out of a skip!
